August update

HI all-

Got 207 more orders to fill.  If you're going to be at Gencon, we'll be there at booth 2008 and you can pickup there.

Otherwise, we will be able to get the rest out right after Gencon.  Got a couple of payments in and based on last year's Gencon, we'll make enough to get the rest of the orders out.

Thanks again for the patience and understanding.

I got into a hole and kept digging
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Jul 18, 2017 at 01:39:15 AM

Lots of angry backers who haven't gotten their rewards, and I don't blame them at all. I got into a bad spot and didn't make it any better by going incommunicado.

After getting about 200 backer orders out, I ran out of shipping money.  I just did a bad job of estimating how much it was going to cost to ship by about 1/3. I had a number of fall-back options for funding the rest of the shipping (small business loans, angel investors, personal credit cards, orders for Single Deckers from wholesalers, etc) but none of them ever came together.  Every week I expected to have some good news to report and every week another one of the options fizzled out. I got deeper into the spiral of bad news and waiting to report it. It's not professional of me and I regret it's taken me this long to get out the news.

So, the silver lining is that I still get out a few orders each week as cash flow allows it.  I am still working on fulfilling all of the orders and haven't taken your money and flown to a tropical resort.  I use the sales revenues from the Single Deckers to pay for the shipping of the Double Deckers when I have enough to cover it, so I have been working to find new ways to sell them.

I'm deeply sorry for those of you still waiting - it's been disrespectful and unprofessional of me to stay silent so long.  I just got so tired of delivering bad news on this project that I really just shut down for awhile.  Hoping that some of the good news on the horizon firms up and I'll have the funds to get out the rest of the rewards.

The shipment's in and rewards will start shipping again tomorrow!

The title pretty much says it all!  I'll make sure to update all address corrections I received tonight, and then rewards will start shipping again tomorrow.

Thanks again for your patience and remember you'll be getting a bonus for your wait!

Still waiting for shipping...
about 7 years ago – Tue, Mar 28, 2017 at 08:08:22 PM

I keep waiting for good news to pass along, but it's been tough to come by.  I am fairly certain that my replacement order has been produced (after a few weeks of delay on that) and is waiting to be shipped, but the issue now is getting a partial truck I can put the shipment on that will be coming near my location.  After lots of back and forth with my producer, they only agreed to pay for shipping if we can get it on a partially-full truck, not a dedicated truck that will ship just to me.  I have just been hoping each day to get the word that they have arranged it and have been calling each day to check on the status.

I'm frustrated with them, but in the end, it was my decision to go with them and the buck stops with me.  In compensation for all the delays, I'll be adding another Double Decker to your orders.  It's about the last means I have to make up for how long this has taken and I hope it will do some of that.  I'll lock in any address changes that you all have sent me when I get the shipment in hand.  Sorry again for the delay - this one has been much more difficult that I ever imagined.

Finally some good news!

I got my supplier to honor the production order and the full replacement order will be here on March 18th.  I've also gotten 200 more of each of the missing colors in hand right now from them and will start on fulfilling rewards with your requested colors in the coming days.  Sorry for the delays and missteps and I appreciate everyone who volunteered to take a substitute color.

Been pretty busy between working with my supplier and exhibiting at the NY Toy Fair last week, but I should be available to spend my full attention now on getting these rewards fulfilled!  Just as a side note, the NY TF is a business-to-business show.  I did take orders for the Double Deckers and accessories, but made it clear to the buyers that those orders won't be sent until I've filled my rewards from the Kickstarter - it's important to me that you all get yours first!
